Pig It Forward

Kwagala Foundation has learned that while words are useful, pictures often describe things a bit better. Our Pig It Forward program is one such instance. Originally thought out by several parents of sponsored children, the program seeks to create capital gain through the altruism of the community. Kwagala's investment was a small monetary one (28 piglets, to be exact) that has yielded great results.
And for some variety, we also invested in a bean crop. Hey...not all of us were meant to raise livestock!

After-School Program

One of our newer initiatives, and born out of the desire to see our sponsored children’s grades improve, Kwagala Foundation created an After-School Program. The initiative is run entirely by locals with primary-school teaching experience. So, every Saturday during the school term and three times weekly during holidays, sponsored children can receive tutoring, play games, make arts and crafts and sing traditional songs. We hope that by providing a safe place that is neither home nor school, the children will have an alternative to homework conditions. At school the children can be distracted and already busy with schoolwork; returning home may mean housework, whereby their homework gets put aside.

Further, the program allows children to talk about difficulties they face, offering a peer-guided support group. The program is run entirely on donation, and is a great extra-curricular investment.

Please keep checking back here for more project updates as they become available!
