  Some Frequently Asked Questions

When was Kwagala Foundation founded?

Kwagala Foundation was founded in May of 2006, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

How does someone donate to Kwagala Foundation?

There are many ways to show your support for Kwagala Foundation. The best way to donate is by contacting us via e-mail. Aside from general donations, anyone interested is reminded that Kwagala Foundation also has plenty of beautiful hand-crafted artwork and jewelry through our Women's Empowerment Program, and many children waiting to be sponsored and have a chance to go to school through our Sponsorship Program.

Can people volunteer to help?

Kwagala Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with event planning, jewellery sales and other co-ordination. We are not recruiting volunteers for on-the-ground work in Uganda. However as the Foundation grows, we hope to be able to provide such opportunities for those interested. In the mean time, if you are able to help us out here in Winnipeg, please send us an e-mail.

Where does the money specifically go?

Kwagala Foundation's efforts are focussed in select villages in South-Central Uganda: Kyababeezi and Ndejje. Any general donations we receive are directed towards funding our various sustainable programs. Money from sales of Kwagala Foundation's handmade crafts and jewelry go directly back to the artists to perpetuate their artwork, as well as a source of income to provide for themselves and their families. Kwagala Foundation is very proud to offer a 100% on-the-ground basis. Recently, donated money was used to purchase 40 mosquito nets which were handed out to families within Kyababeezi and Ndejje.
