If you have any feedback on how we can make our new website better please do contact us and we would like to hear from you.
Kwagala Foundation is proud of its small yet dedicated staff. Building on the notion of transparency, we know that an interest in our foundation depends on the type of relationship we strike up with donors, sponsors, and supporters.
Following are brief bios of the team. We hope you realize that we are young entrepeneurs, passionate for Kwagala's cause, and are inspired by what you read!
Katie Muirhead - President & Co-Founder - 24.
Katie first visited Uganda in 2006, and returned to Canada intent on helping the smiling faces she had met in Uganda. Since this time, she has steered the Kwagala team, overseeing the child sponsorship program, overseeing activities on the ground and working with community members to facilitate sustainable programs. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Human Rights & Global Studies and History at the University of Winnipeg. She has taken time off to do an internship at the Montreal Institute for Genocide Studies and Human Rights. She has managed to return to Uganda every year, with no plans of skipping any time soon!
Leigh McClarty - Vice President & Co-Founder - 24.
Leigh was a founding member of Kwagala Foundation in 2006. Since then, she has taken on multiple roles within the organization, handling much of the financial and administrative aspects of the organization. She has traveled extensively, having visited Africa, Europe, and South America. She currently enrolled in graduate studies at the University of Manitoba focussing on Global Public Health. Leigh was finally able to visit Kyababeezi and experience everything Ugandan about Kwagala Foundation for five weeks in May 2011.
Jean Moses Muwanguzi - Ugandan Correspondent - 20.
Jean Moses (often refered to just as Moses) is our Ugandan correspondent, running the show on the ground. At just 20 year old, he successfully carries out all the tasks in Uganda to keep the organization running, ranging from legalities to actively participating in the program-implementation. He has recently graduated secondary school in Uganda, and his graduation was topped off with a returning visit to Canada in 2010. He hopes to study International Law at Makerere University in Kampala and to continue to help his fellow people. His devotion and interest in Kwagala Foundation is invaluable and irreplaceable.
